Useful Information & Tips

Costa Rica offers two international airports FOR ENTRY INTO the country: Juan Santamaria (SJO) in San José is the larger and more accessible one, but is farther from Playa Negra than the CLOSEST AIRPORT : Daniel Oduber, located in Liberia (LIR), Guanacaste, and is the best option if you are planning on visiting the Pacific beaches, the National Parks and the north of Costa Rica, Volcano Arenal or the cloud forest of Monteverde. At Liberia, flights arrive from Canada, United States, Europe and South America.

The easiest and most flexible way of traveling in Costa Rica is to rent a car.
4WD is recommended during the rainy season, from May to December, because a lot of roads are still unpaved. Also be prepared for an amazing lack of signage to help you along the way! We will be happy to help you with your car rental or any other travel arrangement, just let us know your needs.
