Surf & Beaches

Playa Negra : Ever dreamed about surfing the perfect right ? Playa Negra is a beautiful and clean point break located at about 300m from Kon Tiki, excellent for intermediate to advanced surfers. This spot is famous for being consistent and always having some good waves to ride, even on small swell days. On a good swell day, low tide is recommended for advanced surfers due to the steepness of the waves while medium to high tide will show its best for all.

Sandy beach: Located on the left of Playa Negra, Sandy is a nice beach break, good for all surfers and can be a very nice backup spot when you feel that Negra is too big. It's recommended to surf at Sandy from mid to high tide.

Avellanas: Avellanas is a gorgeous beach located at about 1km from Kon Tiki. There are diferent points in Avellanas: the river mouth is good and consistent especially when the biggest south swell hits on the north of the river mouth.... Also referred as "Little Hawaii", Avellanas offers excellent beach break lefts and rights in front of the restaurant.

Tamarindo: Feeling like surf and party ? Then Tamarindo is the place to go in the area. Located at about 35mn driving from Kon Tiki, Tamarindo offers a wide beach break and countless bars and restaurants. Night life is "on" in Tamarindo so you won't have a problem to find "the place to be" for dancing and party all night.

Witches Rock: Feeling a bit adventurous? Ride a 4WD car or a boat to Witches Rock on a good swell day and you'll have guaranteed sensations! Witches Rock is a beautiful & wide white sand beach, in the middle of Santa Rosa national park and rain forest. Surf is beautiful and often offers nice barrels, recommended for intermediate to advanced surfers. The wild life is so big there that you won't be able to count the number of species you'll cross on your path. If you go by car (dry season until early rainy season), 4WD is a must and we recommended to stay at least one night and camp there. Kon Tiki can provide tents and coolers if necessary.

Ollie's Point: To access Ollie's, you'll need to ride a boat from Playas de Coco. Ollie's is a good long right in front of a river mouth inside a private land....very wild, it needs a big swell to have a good and consistent size , best months are between May and November. Some boats can take you for a day trip to both Ollie's Point and Witches Rock.

We can also guide you on the right spot to surf around here at the moment.....
